Chapter 33 of Title 1 of the New York City Rules requires individuals who use or work on a suspended scaffold in New York to complete 32 hours of training by a training provider approved by the Department of Buildings. This certification must be renewed every four years. Prerequisites: None Course content includes: Introduction to Suspended Scaffolds: Suspended Scaffold Accidents OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Review: Subpart “L” – Scaffolding Subpart “M” – Fall Protection Subpart “P” – Equipment of Personal Protection New York Department of Buildings and Building Codes: BC 3301 – GeneralBC 3314 – Scaffolding BC 3307 – Pedestrian Protection Principles of Fall Protection Personal Fall Arrest Systems Suspended Scaffolding Hardware, Inspection and Use: Inspection Rejection Criteria for Hardware and Components Safe Use Toolkit Platforms Anchor Points, Ties, Parapet Hooks Planning, Mounting, and Dismounting Procedures for Suspended Scaffolds Basic Rope, Knot, and Hook Configurations LifelinesEmergency Situations and Preparation ProceduresStudent learning will be accomplished through presentations on Classroom, lectures, and hands-on demonstrations, including the use of full-scale models and scaffolding. Requirements for receiving the Certificate of Completion: To receive a Certificate of Completion for this course, students must: Be present for 100% of the Actively participate in learning activities, including hands-on demonstrations Achieve a passing score of 70% on final exams (written and practical) Note: The practical part of the final exam requires students to demonstrate basic proficiency in tying knots, completing the wire, assemble blocks and tackle, and operate the lift motor. Students who do not achieve 70% on the written or practical exam may retake the entire 32-hour course and exam for a fee of $ 150. Students Students who fail the exam are not eligible for a refund. Make-up time is not allowed for this course. If, for any reason, a student misses any part of the training, the student should contact NYCSTC to make arrangements to attend another class (additional fees may apply).
